What happens when a marriage lasts 500 years?

Apparently, boredom becomes just as dangerous as a vampire’s bite.

CBS is bringing Eternally Yours to television this fall, and its official trailer introduces a supernatural family comedy that uses an unusually simple question as its central hook: Can love survive forever? The answer may be considerably more complicated when the couple asking the question happens to be immortal.

The new series premieres Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, with streaming availability on Paramount+. CBS and Paramount’s official materials describe the show as a family comedy centered on Charles and Liz, a vampire couple whose once-passionate relationship has deteriorated into an almost lifeless marriage after five centuries together.

That premise immediately gives Eternally Yours an advantage. Instead of presenting vampires primarily as mysterious, seductive or terrifying figures, the series asks us to see them dealing with something remarkably ordinary: a long-term relationship that has lost its spark.

And that is where the trailer becomes particularly interesting.

A 500-Year Marriage Is the Real Supernatural Challenge

At the center of Eternally Yours are Charles, played by Ed Weeks, and Liz, played by Allegra Edwards. They have survived centuries together, but surviving is not necessarily the same as thriving.

The trailer presents a couple who appear comfortable in their routine but emotionally disconnected. Their supernatural existence may have protected them from aging, but it has not protected their marriage from monotony.

That is a clever foundation for a sitcom.

Most relationship comedies explore the frustrations of a few years or decades together. Eternally Yours stretches that idea to an absurd extreme. Five hundred years gives the writers enormous room to explore repetition, changing social attitudes and the strange complications of maintaining a family across centuries.

The official CBS description confirms that Charles and Liz live in present-day Seattle alongside their unconventional coven. Their carefully established routine begins to change when their daughter’s human boyfriend enters their lives.

Suddenly, the family has to deal with an outsider who doesn’t share their supernatural perspective.

That contrast should provide much of the show’s comedy.

The Human Boyfriend Could Become the Family’s Biggest Disruption

The arrival of Max, played by Jaren Lewison, adds another layer to the story.

Max is human. Charles and Liz are vampires. Their daughter Emma, played by Helen J. Shen, is caught between those two worlds.

On paper, it sounds like a familiar parent-meets-boyfriend situation. The supernatural twist, however, changes everything.

For a vampire family that has existed for centuries, modern dating rules may be surprisingly difficult to understand. What looks like an ordinary teenage relationship to Emma could feel like a cultural collision to her parents.

That gives Eternally Yours a strong family-comedy engine: the parents are immortal, but they still have to deal with parenting.

The result could be a refreshing reversal of the traditional vampire story.

    From the Creators of Ghosts

One of the strongest reasons to keep an eye on Eternally Yours is its creative pedigree.

The series comes from Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the creators and executive producers associated with CBS’ successful supernatural comedy Ghosts. Paramount+ confirms that the two serve as creators, showrunners and executive producers on the new series.

There is also a connection behind the camera: Trent O’Donnell, who directed the Ghosts pilot and worked extensively on the series, is directing the Eternally Yours pilot.

That does not mean viewers should expect Eternally Yours to simply copy Ghosts. Paramount+ has specifically noted that the two shows are separate series with different characters and narrative worlds.

Instead, the shared creative background suggests that the new comedy may understand how to balance supernatural absurdity with recognizable human relationships.

    Why the Trailer Stands Out

The most promising element of the Eternally Yours official trailer is its decision to make the supernatural feel almost mundane.

The attached trailer image captures that idea perfectly: Charles and Liz are sitting together in bed, yet they look emotionally miles apart. One is absorbed in a phone while the other is quietly reading.

It could be a picture of almost any modern couple.

Except these two have been married for 500 years.

That visual contrast appears to define the show’s broader appeal. Eternally Yours isn’t simply using vampires for horror or fantasy spectacle. It is using immortality as a comedic lens through which to examine marriage, parenting, routine and emotional distance.

That gives the concept more potential than a conventional supernatural sitcom.

    When Does Eternally Yours Premiere?

Eternally Yours premieres Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. New episodes are scheduled weekly on Thursdays, and the series will also stream on Paramount+.

CBS has positioned the comedy between Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage at 8 p.m. and Elsbeth at 9 p.m., making it part of a substantial Thursday-night lineup.

For viewers searching for a new CBS comedy in 2026, a supernatural family sitcom, or simply something different from the usual vampire formula, this is one of the more intriguing fall introductions.

    Final Thought

Eternally Yours has a deceptively simple premise: two vampires have been married for 500 years and are running out of things to say to each other.

But underneath the jokes is a genuinely relatable idea.

Immortality does not automatically make a relationship stronger. Time can create memories, but it can also create routines. The real challenge is finding a reason to keep choosing the person beside you.

By turning that universal relationship problem into a story about an immortal couple, CBS may have found a smart new angle for the supernatural comedy genre.

The Eternally Yours official trailer suggests a series that could be funny, warm and slightly strange in exactly the right ways. If the show can maintain that balance beyond its trailer, its October premiere could be one of CBS’ more distinctive new comedy launches of the 2026–27 season.
