The upcoming Turkish drama Susuz Yaz (Dry Summer) has added another young performer to its growing cast. Actress Asu Lal Burnak has officially joined the production, bringing fresh excitement to a series that is already attracting attention ahead of its anticipated television debut.
Adapted from the work of acclaimed Turkish writer Necati Cumalı, Susuz Yaz continues to build its cast while filming moves forward. Burnak will portray Rabia, the daughter of Hasan, played by Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzyüleç, and Yeter, played by İrem Sak. Her addition introduces another character to the family relationships at the heart of the upcoming drama.
The casting announcement was reported by Turkish entertainment journalist Birsen Altuntaş, adding another development to the growing conversation surrounding the series.
Asu Lal Burnak Takes on the Role of Rabia
Asu Lal Burnak will play Rabia in Susuz Yaz. According to the casting report, Rabia is the daughter of Hasan and Yeter, two characters portrayed by Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzyüleç and İrem Sak.
Although the production has not yet revealed extensive details about Rabia’s personality or her individual storyline, her position within the family provides an important starting point for understanding her place in the drama.
Family connections often shape the emotional direction of Turkish television series. Relationships between parents and children can introduce personal conflicts, difficult decisions and unexpected developments. Rabia’s character therefore offers an interesting possibility for the series as its story unfolds.
For now, viewers will have to wait for further information about her character and the way she connects with the wider narrative.
A Familiar Face from Sorgu and Aşk Evlilik Boşanma
Burnak is not entering the television industry for the first time. She has already appeared in several Turkish productions, building experience through different roles.
One of her previous performances came in Sorgu, the series released on TOD, where she portrayed Songül. Her character was the niece of Cihan Manoğlu, played by Hazal Kaya. The production ran for two seasons, giving Burnak an opportunity to become familiar to audiences following the series.
She also appeared in Aşk Evlilik Boşanma (Love, Marriage, Divorce), where she played Öykü, the daughter of Güner, portrayed by Bennu Yıldırımlar.
These earlier appearances provide useful context for her latest casting. Her move into Susuz Yaz represents another opportunity to explore a different character and work alongside an established group of performers.
Her role as Rabia may also introduce her to viewers who have not followed her previous television projects.
Susuz Yaz Builds Its Cast Around a Literary Adaptation
One of the notable aspects of Susuz Yaz is its connection to the literary work of Necati Cumalı. Rather than developing its story entirely from an original television concept, the production draws inspiration from a work that already holds a place in Turkish cultural and literary history.
That connection gives the project an additional point of interest. Literary adaptations bring expectations from readers while also creating opportunities for television writers to develop characters and storytelling for a different medium.
The success of such a project depends on several elements, including its interpretation of the original material, the performances of the cast and the way the production translates its central themes into a television narrative.
For viewers, the adaptation raises an important question: how will the series balance the identity of Cumalı’s original work with the demands of contemporary television storytelling?
The production has not disclosed all its narrative details, so further announcements will be important in understanding how closely the series follows its literary foundation.
Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzyüleç and İrem Sak’s Characters
Burnak’s casting also brings attention to the family relationship between Hasan, Yeter and their daughter Rabia.
Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzyüleç takes on the role of Hasan, while İrem Sak portrays Yeter. Their characters form the immediate family connection through which Rabia enters the story.
This relationship could become an important part of the series’ emotional structure. However, the production has not yet provided enough information to establish the nature of their family dynamics or predict how their individual stories will develop.
The combination of these performers gives the series another reason to attract attention, particularly among audiences interested in character-driven Turkish dramas.
When Will Susuz Yaz Premiere?
Filming for Susuz Yaz is currently underway, and the production is targeting a mid-November 2026 television debut.
According to Birsen Altuntaş’s report, Wednesday and Friday are both being considered as possible broadcast days. However, the final scheduling decision has not been officially confirmed in the available announcement.
Viewers should therefore treat the mid-November target as the reported plan rather than a guaranteed premiere date. The production or broadcasting channel will need to provide the final confirmation.
As filming progresses, additional casting announcements, promotional materials and scheduling updates may offer a clearer picture of the series’ launch.
Why Asu Lal Burnak’s Casting Matters
Adding Asu Lal Burnak gives Susuz Yaz another young performer with experience in established Turkish television productions. Her previous roles in Sorgu and Aşk Evlilik Boşanma provide a starting point for audiences who want to follow her career.
More importantly, Rabia’s place within Hasan and Yeter’s family creates an opportunity for the series to develop another personal storyline alongside its broader narrative.
The production’s literary foundation, developing cast and approaching broadcast target have already made it a project worth watching. Whether the series meets expectations will ultimately depend on its storytelling, performances and overall execution.
For now, Burnak’s arrival is a notable casting development as Susuz Yaz moves closer to its planned debut.
Final Thought
Asu Lal Burnak’s addition to Susuz Yaz marks another step in the development of this upcoming Turkish drama. Playing Rabia, the daughter of Hasan and Yeter, she joins a production adapted from Necati Cumalı’s work and featuring a growing ensemble of performers.
With filming continuing and a mid-November premiere being targeted, anticipation will likely build as more information becomes available. The confirmed casting news offers an early glimpse of the characters audiences can expect to meet when Susuz Yaz reaches television screens.
