Go Türkiye film sequel Eyes An Istanbul Story Sequel with Sinem Ünsal & Ozan Akbaba.

A sequel to An Istanbul Story, the 10-part promotional film produced for Go Türkiye, is currently under discussion, according to industry sources.

    Turkish production company Ay Yapım

Go Türkiye film sequel the original project, produced by Turkish production company Ay Yapım and starring Sinem Ünsal and Ozan Akbaba, was released as part of Go Türkiye’s international tourism campaign and achieved strong viewership across digital platforms.

Unlike conventional tourism promotions, the series was structured as a narrative-driven short film, focusing on character and atmosphere rather than direct destination advertising.

    Screenwriter Kemal Hamamcıoğlu

Award-winning filmmaker Hilal Saral directed the first installment, with screenwriter Kemal Hamamcıoğlu penning the script, and the team filmed it entirely in Istanbul.

Sources familiar with the project say the propose sequel will shot in Cappadocia, one of Türkiye’s most internationally recognized regions.

However, the production schedule has not yet been finalized. The timing of the shoot is reportedly affected by the intensive filming calendar of the television series Uzak Şehir, in which key cast members are currently involved.

    Go Türkiye’s film-based promotion

Go Türkiye’s film-based promotion strategy has drawn attention for its cinematic approach, blending cultural storytelling with destination branding.

Countries around the world are increasingly adopting similar models, using narrative content to engage international audiences. The production team has not yet confirmed the sequel.

    Cappadocia: The Rumored Next Chapter

According to production chatter, if greenlit, the sequel is expect to shift from Istanbul’s urban rhythm to the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia.

From a storytelling perspective, the choice makes sense. Cappadocia offers a stark contrast to Istanbul’s density: open skies, sculpted rock formations, and a slower, almost timeless atmosphere. Cinematically, it provides space both visually and emotionally for a new chapter rather than a repetition of the first.

This shift would allow the project to expand its narrative language while continuing to explore Türkiye through lived experience rather than spectacle.

    Scheduling Challenges Behind the Scenes

Despite the creative enthusiasm, timing remains uncertain. Sources point to the demanding production schedule of the TV series Uzak Şehir as a key factor delaying concrete plans.

Such overlaps are increasingly common as high-profile actors balance multiple long-form projects. In this case, the delay reflects not hesitation, but logistics.

    Go Türkiye’s Bigger Picture Strategy

The success of An Istanbul Story fits into a broader global movement where countries turn to storytelling—not slogans to define their image abroad.

    Similar strategies have seen in:

    • South Korea’s drama-driven tourism boom
    • New Zealand’s film-location branding
    • Spain’s city-focused cultural narratives

Türkiye’s approach stands out for its collaboration with top-tier production companies and established creative talent, ensuring that promotional content meets cinematic standards rather than marketing benchmarks.

    Why This Sequel Matters

If the Cappadocia installment moves forward, it will reinforce an important shift: tourism films no longer need to explain a place they need to make audiences feel it.

In that sense, An Istanbul Story is less about destinations and more about perspective. The rumored sequel represents continuity not just of a project, but of a philosophy one where storytelling earns attention instead of demanding it.

    Final Thought

The discussion surrounding a sequel to An Istanbul Story signals something larger than a new shoot location or returning cast. It reflects how audience expectations have changed—and how countries, like creators, must adapt.

If Go Türkiye continues down this path, it won’t simply promote destinations. It will continue to build cultural narratives that travel on their own merit. And in today’s media landscape, that distinction is everything.
