Netflix has introduced Proxies, a new Spanish-language thriller that begins with an unsettling confession and quickly raises questions that seem far more complicated than an ordinary murder investigation. Directed by Oriol Paulo, the filmmaker behind The Invisible Guest, God’s Crooked Lines and The Innocent, the upcoming movie promises a tense combination of psychological suspense, criminal mystery and emotional drama.
The official teaser, released on November 4, 2026, offers a glimpse into a story where a confession may be only the beginning of a much larger puzzle. With an accomplished Spanish-language cast and an intriguing Christmas Eve setting, Proxies is already an interesting addition to Netflix’s upcoming thriller lineup.
Proxies Official Teaser: One Confession, Too Many Questions
The teaser introduces a man who walks into a police station on Christmas Eve morning and announces that he wants to confess to murder. His statement is particularly unsettling: he claims to have killed two or three people.
However, the central mystery is not simply about the number of victims. Investigators must understand why this man has chosen to surrender himself now and what he expects to accomplish by telling his story.
As the investigation develops, his confession becomes connected to another case that was supposedly closed. The connection appears to defy ordinary logic, creating the foundation for a mystery that could challenge the assumptions of everyone involved.
Rather than revealing the complete storyline, Netflix keeps the teaser focused on atmosphere, character expressions and unanswered questions. That restraint works in the film’s favour because the audience has enough information to become curious without receiving the answers too early.
Oriol Paulo Returns With Another Intricate Thriller
One of the strongest reasons to watch Proxies is its director, Oriol Paulo. He has established a distinctive reputation through stories that combine unexpected revelations, carefully constructed mysteries and characters whose motivations are not always immediately clear.
His previous projects, including The Invisible Guest, God’s Crooked Lines and The Innocent, demonstrate his interest in psychological uncertainty and complicated storytelling.
Proxies appears to continue that creative direction. The premise encourages viewers to question the reliability of a confession and examine the relationship between guilt, truth and personal responsibility.
Paulo has also explained that he wanted the thriller to carry the emotional weight of a tragedy. According to his comments shared by Netflix, guilt, pain and the search for answers drive the characters towards difficult moral decisions.
That description suggests that the movie will aim for more than a sequence of surprising developments. Its emotional foundation could become just as important as its central mystery.
Proxies Cast: Familiar Faces Lead the Netflix Thriller
The movie brings together several established performers from Spanish and international productions.
The principal cast includes:
- Eduard Fernández: A central performer whose character appears closely connected to the film’s disturbing opening confession.
- Mario Casas: Known for The Innocent and other successful Spanish productions, he adds considerable recognition to the ensemble.
- Blanca Suárez: A familiar face from Spanish television and cinema, bringing another compelling presence to the story.
- Nicolás Francella: Joins the leading ensemble in an important role.
- Alexandra Jiménez: Adds further depth to the film’s collection of characters.
The supporting cast includes Blanca Parés, Javier Beltrán, Marta Bayarri and Ana Wagener.
This combination of experienced performers gives the production an opportunity to build a believable world around a story filled with uncertainty. Strong performances will be particularly important when a thriller depends on concealed information, conflicting accounts and subtle character reactions.
What Makes the Teaser Interesting?
The most effective element of the Proxies teaser is its central contradiction. A man voluntarily admits to serious crimes, yet his decision to confess creates more questions than answers.
That approach gives the story an unusual starting point. Instead of following a conventional investigation in which detectives gradually identify a suspect, the film begins with a suspect who has already presented himself.
The Christmas Eve setting also adds an interesting contrast. A season normally associated with family gatherings, celebration and warmth becomes the backdrop for a deeply disturbing criminal mystery.
The attached first-look images reinforce this atmosphere. Dark interiors, tense expressions, police-related surroundings and isolated character moments suggest a story built around suspicion and psychological pressure.
The visual approach does not reveal the complete narrative, but it gives viewers an early impression of the film’s serious and suspenseful tone.
Release Date: When Is Proxies Coming to Netflix?
Netflix has officially confirmed that Proxies will premiere globally on December 11, 2026.
The film is a Juanita Films production, written by Oriol Paulo and Guillem Clua. Paulo and Miguel Ángel Faura serve as executive producers, while Libertad Ribera and Jaume Martí are among the producers.
The production also features cinematography by Bernat Bosch and original music by Fernando Velázquez. These creative contributions will help establish the atmosphere and emotional intensity required by the story.
International audiences can look forward to discovering the film through Netflix when it arrives on the confirmed release date.
Final Thought
Proxies looks set to deliver the kind of psychological mystery that keeps audiences questioning every detail. With Oriol Paulo directing, a talented Spanish cast, and a storyline built around a disturbing murder confession and an impossible case, the film has all the ingredients for an intriguing Netflix thriller. The official teaser offers just enough suspense to spark curiosity without revealing the answers. For fans of intelligent crime dramas, unexpected twists, and gripping Spanish-language cinema, Proxies deserves a place on the watchlist. One confession may start the story, but the truth could be far more disturbing than anyone expects.
