The quietest people can sometimes hide the darkest secrets, and Rhiannon Lewis is living proof. Sky has unveiled the official trailer for Sweetpea Season 2, bringing Ella Purnell back as the seemingly ordinary young woman whose transformation into a dangerous killer has made the series such an intriguing psychological thriller. This time, however, Rhiannon faces a new set of problems that could make her carefully controlled world collapse.
Following the events of the first season, the new chapter promises more dark humour, unexpected relationships and disturbing developments. With a copycat killer threatening to expose her crimes, Rhiannon must deal with the consequences of her actions while attempting to build a different life. The latest trailer suggests that her biggest challenge may no longer be hiding her identity but understanding what she has become.
Sweetpea Season 2 Trailer Introduces a More Dangerous Rhiannon
The official trailer offers a glimpse into Rhiannon’s changing circumstances. Once overlooked and underestimated by almost everyone around her, she now finds herself in a position where she has more influence and confidence. Her professional life takes a new direction with a promotion at the Carnsham Gazette, suggesting that she may finally be receiving the recognition she previously struggled to obtain.
But success comes with complications. Rhiannon’s increasingly complicated personal life and growing list of victims create problems that cannot easily disappear. The arrival of a copycat killer adds another layer of suspense, threatening to reveal the secrets she has worked so hard to protect.
The trailer also hints at a darker emotional journey. Rhiannon must confront an uncomfortable question connected to her former relationship with AJ: was he right about her all along? This uncertainty gives the new season an interesting psychological dimension beyond its criminal storyline.
Ella Purnell Returns as Rhiannon Lewis
Ella Purnell once again leads the series as Rhiannon Lewis. Her performance remains central to the show’s appeal because the character combines vulnerability, frustration, dark humour and frightening unpredictability.
Purnell has built a strong screen presence through projects such as Fallout and Yellowjackets. However, Sweetpea gives her a different kind of character to explore. Rhiannon is neither a conventional hero nor a straightforward villain. She is a complicated individual whose decisions continue to blur the boundaries between victimhood, revenge and personal responsibility.
Season 2 appears ready to explore those contradictions further. As Rhiannon experiences greater professional success and a possible new romantic connection, viewers may see another side of her personality. Yet the threat surrounding her suggests that a fresh beginning will not come easily.
New Cast Members Bring Fresh Complications
The second season introduces several new faces alongside its returning cast. Rish Shah joins as Gabriel, who becomes Rhiannon’s new romantic interest. His arrival could bring an unexpected emotional connection into her life, although her dangerous secrets may complicate any chance of a normal relationship.
Tamsin Greig also joins the series as Liv, AJ’s mother. Her involvement could add another personal dimension to the story, particularly as Rhiannon continues to deal with the consequences of her previous relationship.
Other newcomers include Taj Atwal as Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, Jenny Walser as Daisy, a new friend, and Annabelle Davis as Bella, who works in the police administration department.
Returning cast members include Jon Pointing as Craig, Jeremy Swift as Norman, Leah Harvey as Marina, Ingrid Oliver as DI St John, Nitin Ganatra as Rory and Alexandra Dowling as Seren.
This combination of familiar characters and new personalities gives the upcoming season plenty of opportunities to develop its relationships and introduce fresh conflicts.
A Copycat Killer Changes the Stakes
One of the most interesting developments in the Sweetpea Season 2 trailer is the introduction of a copycat killer. Rhiannon has spent much of her journey operating in the shadows, but another person repeating similar crimes could put everything at risk.
The idea creates an intriguing reversal. Previously, Rhiannon represented the unpredictable danger in other people’s lives. Now, she must consider the possibility that someone else could disrupt her plans, expose her identity or take control of a situation she believes she understands.
This storyline also creates room for questions about trust, responsibility and morality. Is Rhiannon frightened because someone might discover her crimes, or because she is losing control of the world she has created? The series can explore both possibilities while maintaining its unsettling combination of suspense and dark comedy.
Sweetpea Season 2 Release Date: When Can You Watch It?
According to Sky’s official announcement, Sweetpea Season 2 premieres on November 26, 2026, with all episodes becoming available to stream on Sky and NOW in the UK.
For American viewers, the series is expected to arrive on STARZ in early 2027. International availability may vary depending on local distribution arrangements, so viewers should check their regional streaming services for confirmed details.
The new season continues the television adaptation of C.J. Skuse’s novels. Produced by See-Saw Films in association with Sky Studios, the series returns with its distinctive mix of psychological tension, sharp humour and morally complicated storytelling.
Why the New Season Deserves Attention
Sweetpea stands apart from many conventional crime dramas because it approaches violence and revenge through the perspective of a character who is difficult to understand and even harder to predict.
Rather than presenting a traditional detective story, the series examines what happens when someone who has spent years feeling invisible discovers a dangerous sense of power. That central idea gives the show an unusual identity, balancing uncomfortable humour with genuine psychological suspense.
Season 2 has an opportunity to deepen that premise. Rhiannon’s new position, romantic complications and the threat of another killer all create different pressures. More importantly, the story can examine whether personal transformation actually means anything when someone refuses to face the consequences of their choices.
The official trailer does not reveal every major development, which is a good reason to approach the upcoming episodes with curiosity rather than assumptions. The combination of Ella Purnell’s returning performance, new cast members and a threatening copycat storyline gives this season several compelling elements.
Final Thought
The Sweetpea Season 2 trailer sets up an intriguing return for Ella Purnell and her complicated character, Rhiannon Lewis. A new promotion and a possible romance might suggest that life is finally moving in her favour, but the arrival of a copycat killer threatens to destroy that fragile progress.
With its November 26 premiere on Sky and NOW, the second season is shaping up to be an interesting continuation of the dark comedy thriller. If the new episodes deliver on the tension and character development suggested by the trailer, Rhiannon’s next chapter could be even more unpredictable than the first.
For viewers who enjoy psychological thrillers with unconventional characters, twisted humour and unsettling mysteries, Sweetpea Season 2 is certainly one to keep on the watchlist.
