Some family secrets remain buried for years. Others return when the past becomes impossible to escape. Peacock’s The Good Daughter explores that unsettling idea in its official trailer, introducing a crime thriller built around fractured family relationships, painful memories, and a mystery that threatens to change everything.
Starring Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy, this upcoming Peacock Original adapts Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel into a six-episode limited series. The trailer promises an intense blend of psychological suspense, family drama, and small-town secrets, placing two estranged sisters at the center of a case that reaches far beyond a single crime.
With its tense atmosphere and emotionally charged premise, The Good Daughter could become one of the notable thriller releases of November 2026.
The Good Daughter Official Trailer Sets Up a Disturbing Mystery
The official trailer introduces viewers to a community where painful memories continue to shape the present. At the center of the story are Charlotte Quinn and her older sister, Samantha, two women whose lives took different directions after a devastating act of violence.
The sisters have spent approximately two decades trying to move beyond the experience that fractured their family. However, another violent incident in their hometown of Pikeville, Georgia, brings old wounds back into focus.
Charlotte, now a defense attorney like her father, Rusty Quinn, finds herself directly connected to a new investigation. Samantha has built her career elsewhere and appears reluctant to return home. When their father asks her to help Charlotte, the sisters must confront a past neither has fully escaped.
The trailer’s restrained visuals and tense character interactions suggest that the investigation will uncover more than straightforward criminal evidence. Every conversation could carry another meaning, while familiar places may hold memories the sisters would rather leave behind.
Rather than relying entirely on shocking revelations, the series appears ready to explore the emotional consequences of violence and the complicated relationships that survive it.
Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy Lead the Peacock Thriller
The casting gives The Good Daughter a strong foundation. Rose Byrne plays Samantha Quinn, while Meghann Fahy portrays Charlotte Quinn. Their characters occupy different professional and personal worlds, creating an immediate source of tension as their lives converge again.
Byrne has demonstrated her range across comedy and drama, while Fahy earned widespread attention for her performance in The White Lotus. Their contrasting screen personas could help distinguish the sisters without reducing their relationship to a simple conflict between opposites.
Brendan Gleeson joins the cast as Rusty Quinn, the sisters’ father and a controversial local attorney whose professional choices have affected the family’s reputation. Olivia Williams plays Harriet “Gamma” Quinn, while Harper Steele, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek also appear in the series.
The supporting cast matters because a mystery of this scale needs more than two compelling leads. Pikeville must feel like a place where relationships, loyalties, and old grievances influence the investigation.
The series brings together established performers and a story that demands emotional complexity, making its ensemble one of its most promising elements.
A Karin Slaughter Novel Comes to Television
The Good Daughter draws its story from Karin Slaughter’s 2017 standalone thriller of the same name. Slaughter, known for crime fiction that examines violence, family dynamics, and the psychological consequences of trauma, has adapted her own novel for the screen.
That involvement gives the television adaptation a direct connection to the source material. Slaughter serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, allowing her to shape the transition from the novel’s internal conflicts to the visual language of television.
The adaptation also brings a distinctive creative team behind the camera. Steph Green directs all six episodes and serves as an executive producer. The production comes from Made Up Stories in partnership with FIFTH SEASON.
For viewers unfamiliar with the novel, the series offers an entry point into Slaughter’s dark storytelling. Readers, meanwhile, may be particularly interested in how the adaptation handles the book’s revelations, character development, and complicated family history.
The central question extends beyond identifying a culprit. It asks how people rebuild their lives after trauma and whether the truth can repair relationships that have remained damaged for years.
What Makes the Story More Than a Conventional Crime Drama?
The premise combines a criminal investigation with a deeply personal family conflict. Charlotte and Samantha are not simply investigators following clues; they are sisters forced to reconsider the experiences that shaped their identities.
Charlotte’s work as a defense attorney places her in a complicated position. Her professional responsibilities require her to examine evidence and defend clients, while her personal history makes emotional distance difficult to maintain.
Samantha’s return creates another layer of uncertainty. Rebuilding a relationship after years apart requires more than sharing information about a case. The sisters must also decide what they are willing to reveal, what they can forgive, and whether they can trust each other again.
The hometown setting strengthens those themes. In a small community, private history can influence public judgment, and old reputations may determine how people interpret new evidence.
This combination gives the series room to balance suspense with character-driven storytelling. If the investigation and the family drama develop together, each discovery could carry both criminal and emotional consequences.
The Good Daughter Release Date and Where to Watch
Peacock has scheduled The Good Daughter to premiere on November 12, 2026. The platform lists all six episodes as available to stream on premiere day, making it a limited-series release rather than a weekly rollout.
Viewers in the United States can find the series through Peacock. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sky has announced an exclusive launch on Sky and its streaming service NOW on the same date.
Availability depends on regional streaming rights and subscription access, so viewers outside those territories should check their local listings before planning a watch.
