Netflix has finally pulled back the curtain on The Gentlemen: Season 2, and the new trailer makes one thing clear: Eddie Horniman is no longer the reluctant aristocrat who stumbled into a criminal empire. He is learning how to run one.

Created by Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen returns on September 3, 2026, with Theo James back as Eddie and Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass. Netflix has also confirmed a third season, giving the series a longer runway just as its world becomes bigger and more dangerous. The Season 2 trailer arrives at an interesting moment for the show: its central partnership is established, but its ambitions are now pushing beyond the English countryside.

The Gentlemen Season 2 trailer expands the game

Season 1 worked because it understood the comic tension between old money and organized crime. Eddie inherited a grand estate and discovered that the property was sitting on top of an illegal cannabis operation. Instead of simply walking away, he gradually learned the rules of a world he had never expected to enter.

Season 2 appears to turn that fish-out-of-water story into a more confident crime saga. Netflix says Eddie and Susie are taking their operation international, moving into the Italian lakes as they try to expand their enterprise. Italy gives the story a new landscape, new power structures and potentially new enemies.

The trailer suggests that Eddie’s appetite has changed. He is not simply protecting his family estate anymore. He wants more influence and control. That makes the character more interesting because his biggest threat may be his own ambition.

Theo James and Kaya Scodelario remain the heart of the series

Theo James’ Eddie has always been most compelling when he appears to be thinking three steps ahead while everyone around him is waiting for him to make a mistake. Season 2 looks ready to push that evolution further.

Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass remains equally important. She is not merely Eddie’s business partner; she understands the criminal ecosystem better than he does and brings a sharper instinct for survival. Their relationship has never depended on simple trust. It is built on calculation, loyalty, mutual benefit and the occasional clash of egos.

Eddie wants expansion. Susie understands the cost of expansion. When those two instincts collide, the series has plenty of room for both comedy and danger.

Ray Winstone also returns as Bobby Glass, while Daniel Ings is back as Freddy Horniman. Netflix has announced an unusually busy ensemble around them, including Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti, Chris Eubank Jr. and Maya Jama. Returning players include Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley and Giancarlo Esposito.

Why the Italian setting could change everything

Moving the action toward Italy is more than a stylish production decision. It creates a fresh arena for Ritchie’s signature mix of class, crime, sharp dialogue and sudden violence.

The polished locations and tailored characters preserve The Gentlemen’s visual identity, but the international expansion raises the stakes. Eddie and Susie are no longer simply defending an established business. They are entering territory where local alliances, competing interests and unfamiliar rules can make every deal more dangerous.

That is where Season 2 could separate itself from its predecessor. Rather than repeating the original formula, it has the opportunity to explore what happens when a successful criminal operation becomes too large to control.

Guy Ritchie’s fingerprints are still everywhere

The series remains closely tied to Guy Ritchie’s creative identity. Netflix describes Ritchie as the creator, writer, director and executive producer, while Matthew Read returns as a co-writer. Ritchie previously described Season 2 as an expansion both geographically and thematically.

That distinction is important. The Gentlemen is not trying to become a conventional gangster drama. Its appeal comes from the collision of elegant surroundings, absurd situations, ruthless characters and fast-moving schemes. The comedy is part of the tension, not a break from it.

For viewers who enjoyed the first season’s unpredictable rhythm, Season 2 keeps that energy while giving Eddie and Susie a larger playground.

The Gentlemen Season 2 release date

The Gentlemen: Season 2 premieres on Netflix on September 3, 2026. Netflix has also confirmed that the series will return for Season 3, with Guy Ritchie once again directing.

That renewal makes the upcoming season even more intriguing. Season 2 no longer has to function as a simple return; it can build toward a larger story. If Eddie’s ambition continues to grow, the consequences could become the foundation for the next chapter.

    Final thoughts

The Gentlemen: Season 2 looks like a confident escalation rather than a safe repeat. Eddie has found his appetite for power, Susie remains the strategic counterweight, and the move into international territory gives the series plenty of space to reinvent its criminal chessboard.

The biggest question is not whether Eddie can become a gangster. Season 1 already answered that. The real question is whether he can survive becoming the kind of man who wants to be one.

For fans of stylish British crime series, Guy Ritchie storytelling, dark comedy and high-stakes gangster drama, September 3 cannot arrive soon enough.
